Europe adventure. Day 5 of 34. Part 2.

Written by what's left of the bonfire on day 6.

We played the tractor game on the way to Meath, a very suitable game for the Irish countryside. I lost, but I think that I had an unfair disadvantage being in the back seat. Cassie won by a long shot, yelling out tractor way before either of us.

Afterward Cassie and Westy sang, a whole range of songs from The Bare Necessities to Motherfucking Lean On Me. I liked their music much better than the overly familiar songs on the radio.

And then Westy got us lost. He was supposed to be playing in the first band at the party, but we were so late he told them to go ahead. We apparently had been driving down the wrong road for a while. The middle of nowhere has a whole new meaning in Ireland.

The party, I found out, was called The Duffy Palooza, and had been an annual thing at the Duffy farm. I guess there were a bunch of birthdays in the family. It was a pretty crazy party, with live music, free food and drink, a bouncy castle, a heated pool made in the back of a truck, and no intention of ending until the night was over.

The best part was when Westy took to the stage and sang Disney songs with his ukulele. Everyone was singing along and dancing. Sadly, the next band started playing their instruments while he was still singing. It was very rude of them, but I guess they didn't like being upstaged by a guy with a ukulele.

I had a lot of fun conversations, swam in the pool, danced, ate some good food, drank a bottle of wine and sat by the warm fire until about 4:30am, and then slept in the backseat of Westy's car with a borrowed sleeping bag. I was kind if freezing, but still managed to sleep. I'm sure most people were up drinking until the sun rose, and some are still at it now, but I like my sleep. I know, I'm a loser.

On to Dublin today!
